Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Education
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Education
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder.
ADHD is characterized by three main kinds of behaviour.
1) Inattention
2) Hyperactivity
3) Impulsivity
These symptoms are divided into two groups- inattentive and hyperactive- impulsive. Some children will exhibit mostly inattentive behaviors and others predominantly hyperactive-impulsive.
Majority of children with ADHD have a combination of both groups, which may make it very difficult and challenging for them to function in school.
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder education: If we look at some behaviours that
occurs at school with children that are ADHD in the two categories:
Inattentive symptoms of ADHD: These symptoms include, but are not limited to, easily getting distracted or sidetracked by things around them like people, sounds or things. Failing to stay on track with the work being done in the classroom or to finish a worksheet on time. Often forgets instructions, forgets to write down homework and overlooking details. And leaving things behind or losing belongings like a jacket, books, etc.
Hyperactive or impulsive symptoms of ADHD: These symptoms include, but are not limited to having trouble to sit still, stay in his seat and or fidgeting with his hands/items. Talking excessively, interrupting conversations and talking out of turn. Being impatient, and not able to wait for his turn.
The most important aspect of treating ADHD is education (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder education): understanding the impact ADHD has on learning, motivation, and behaviour.
